OVERVIEW

eBike Exchanges South Africa is based in Cape Town, Western Cape, with nationwide insured delivery across South Africa.

All our e-bikes are pre-owned, fully serviced, safety checked, and professionally packed. We do not offer international shipping.

All prices are in South African Rand (ZAR). Shipping costs are calculated at checkout.

DELIVERY OPTIONS

A) Nationwide Courier Delivery – Door to Door

Insured courier across all 9 provinces
Fully boxed e-bike, battery removed and packed separately where required by courier
Tracking provided via email / WhatsApp
Signature required on delivery

B) Cape Town Collection – Workshop

Free collection from our Cape Town workshop
By appointment only – book via https://ebikeexchanges.co.za/contact/
Please bring ID and order number
Full inspection and handover included
14-day cooling-off does NOT apply to in-person collection where you inspect before purchase, but 60-day warranty still applies

C) Video Viewing Before Shipping
We strongly recommend a WhatsApp Video / Google Meet viewing before we ship. We show battery health, motor running, gears/brakes, and accessories. This is included free.

SHIPPING COSTS

Shipping cost is calculated at checkout based on bike size, weight (typically 22-28kg boxed), and delivery area
Main centres (Cape Town, Johannesburg, Pretoria, Durban, Gqeberha, Bloemfontein): Typically R750 – R1,250
Regional / outlying areas: R1,250 – R1,950
Free delivery may be offered on selected listings – will be stated on product page
Delivery cost is non-refundable unless the bike is faulty or not as described (see Returns Policy)

We use vetted SA courier partners (The Courier Guy, Intertown, and other insured bike couriers). Couriers are third parties – we are not liable for courier delays beyond our control, but we will assist with tracking.

PROCESSING & DISPATCH TIME

Processing: 1-3 business days after full payment cleared (EFT may take 1-2 days to clear)
Deposit orders: Bike is reserved but NOT dispatched until balance is paid in full
Part exchange orders: Dispatch only after your part exchange bike is received and assessed (if applicable)
Dispatch: We notify you with tracking once dispatched
Transit: 2-5 business days to main centres, 3-7 business days to regional areas after dispatch

Example timeline: Pay Monday, dispatch Wednesday, deliver Friday (Joburg) or next Tuesday (regional).

Weekends and public holidays excluded. No dispatch on Sundays.

PACKING & INSURANCE

Each bike is professionally boxed: handlebars turned, pedals removed and bagged, frame protected with foam/pipe lagging, battery packed separately
Charger, keys (2x where applicable), manuals included in box
Insurance: All shipments are insured for loss and transit damage up to sale value
Battery: We comply with courier dangerous goods rules – battery may be shipped at 30-50% charge, at courier’s requirement

Keep the box for 14 days in case a return is required.

WHAT TO DO ON DELIVERY
Check the outer box for visible damage BEFORE signing
If box is badly damaged, write “BOX DAMAGED” on courier POD and take photos
Unbox within 24 hours and inspect
Take photos of bike as unpacked
Report any transit damage within 48 hours via https://ebikeexchanges.co.za/contact/ with:
- Order number
- Photos of box (outside and inside)
- Photos of damage
- Brief description

Do NOT ride the bike if you suspect transit damage – contact us first.

For undamaged deliveries: You have 14 days under our Returns Policy to report if bike is not as described (for online distance sales). Bike must have <10km added.

FAILED DELIVERY / INCORRECT ADDRESS

If you provide incorrect address, re-delivery cost is at your cost
If you miss delivery and courier returns to depot, re-delivery may incur extra fee (R150 – R350)
If courier cannot deliver after 2 attempts and returns to us, return courier cost will be deducted from any refund
Please provide a phone number that is reachable on delivery day

BATTERY & ACCESSORIES SHIPPING

E-bike batteries are included with the bike shipment unless courier prohibits – in which case we ship battery separately via compliant service
Spare batteries, chargers, and accessories: R99 – R250 via courier nationwide, 1-3 days
Small accessories may be shipped via Pudo / Paxi at our discretion

Please do not arrive without an appointment – our team may be on test rides or servicing.

INTERNATIONAL SHIPPING

We do NOT currently ship e-bikes outside South Africa due to battery transport regulations, insurance, and warranty support.

We can ship small non-battery accessories internationally on request – contact us for a quote.

DELAYS & FORCE MAJEURE

Delivery times are estimates. We are not liable for delays caused by:

Courier network delays, strikes, weather, accidents
Public holidays and long weekends
EFT payment clearance delays
Incorrect address provided
Force majeure events

If delay exceeds 10 business days from dispatch, contact us and we will investigate with courier and offer solutions.
